During the semester, you will have to complete two mini Projects that will allow you to apply (experience) some of the lessons we will learn during the semester.
mini Project 1: Paper Clip Game (90 points)

A few years ago, Kyle McDonald started with a single red paperclip and, after fourteen trades, ended up with a house [watch here]. This assignment is inspired by his story.

Start with a paper clip (or some other object of no obvious value to most people). The goal of this game is to use this seemingly valueless object and trade up in value as far as you can go. Take pictures of all trades along the way.

You have until Nov 8 to complete this assignment. On Nov 8, submit a collage of your pictures that clearly show the final trades. Also, include a short reflective paper (1.5 pages, 1-inch margins, 12 pts, Times New Roman, single-spaced) of your experience by discussing your sales strategy, self-branding, the relativity of value, and asset acquisition. What did you learn from participating in this activity?
Finally, prepare a short (3 min) PPT presentation. In your presentation, you will have to show your trades and briefly discuss what you learned from participating in this activity.  All presentations will be on Nov 8.
mini Project 2: Rejection Therapy (90 points)
Watch the TED talk by Jia Jiang: What I learned from 100 days of rejection [watch here].
Design your own rejection therapy where you purposefully seek out rejection in your everyday life. The goal is to try to get rejected by asking for outrageous requests.
As you do this, film yourself (or take pictures) so you can keep yourself accountable.
You have until Oct 18 to complete this assignment. Did the rejection therapy work? Did you grow a thick skin? Do you agree with Jia Jiang that this is a good way to overcome your fear of failure? Did your perception about rejection change over the course of this experiment? You can either record yourself or write a short reflective paper (1.5 pages, 1-inch margins, 12 pts, Times New Roman, single-spaced) of your experience discussing what you learned from participating in this activity?
Finally, prepare a short (3 min) PPT presentation. In your presentation, you will need to briefly discuss what you learned from participating in this activity.  All presentations will be on Oct 18.
